Akmal Husain was born in Silchar in 1961. He graduated in painting from Santiniketan, after which he went on a three years scholarship to study Wood-Block Print Making from Kyoto Seika University, Japan. His selected exhibitions include Print Making Department, Kyoto; Aichi Fine Art & Cultureal Centre, Nagoya; Gallery Duck, Kobe; Machida Print Museum, Tokyo & Kyoto International Woodprint; Japan besides New Delhi & Kolkata. He has received Sovana Banik Scolarship, Kala Bhawan; National Award, LKA, Delhi; Research Grant, LKA, Delhi and Japanese Govt. Scolarship (Monbusho) Japan. His works are in important collections in India and Abroad. He works in Pondicherry.
